Podiatry

podiatry

Podiatrist Chris Schafer runs a weekly podiatry service at our Balcombe Street clinic on Friday afternoons.

Podiatry can assist in treating the following conditions:

  • Flat feet/pronated feet
  • Heel pain/plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendonitis/tendonitis
  • Shin splints
  • Metatarsal(ball of the foot) pain
  • Running injuries
  • Lower limb biomechanical problems

How we treat

  • Carry out a biomechanical assessment to identify any foot, leg and back imbalances
  • Gait analysis using a treadmill and RsScan(r)
  • Prescribe custom made casted orthotics if indicated

Other services include

  • Footwear assessment and advice including specialist footwear
  • Treatment for ingrown toenails - minor op cases under local anaesthetic

A podiatry treatment would generally consist of a 1 hour appointment involving a muscular-skeletal assessment and gait analysis using the RsScan(r) pressure plate.

A treatment plan would then be established which would usually include specific strengthening/stretching exercises, footwear advice, and the provision of insoles/orthotics where indicated.
